Winning form continues at Clogher and Enniskillen
Another shuffle of the show team resulted in success for the Jalex crew at the recent Clogher Valley and Enniskillen Shows where the commercial classes were top notch.
Bushmills Lady owned jointly with McAfee’s was looking every inch a champion and picked up the top place in the store heifer class before winning the Clogher Valley Commercial Cattle Championship. In reserve position was her team mate “Moulin Rouge” who had earlier stormed to victory in the beef heifer section of the show.
The calf, store and beef classes then went head to head for the Overall Commercial Championships which saw the Alibaba sired Bushmills Lady secure the reserve spot.
Enniskillen Show had a great entry forward and we were delighted to pick up the Reserve Championship with “Black Magic”.

BLACK MAGIC MAKES IT FOR IN A ROW FOR JALEX HERD
James Alexander was toasting success at Antrim Show where he topped the commercial classes with the aptly named "Black Magic". This is the fourth show in a row for the Jalex team to come up trumps - all with homebred stock from their Toomebridge based suckler enterprise. This was the first outing for Black Magic who is sired by the Jockey son Crillaune Armani.
Standing in reserve position was another from the same team - "Flash", a Tullygarley Alibaba daughter who was also in the same spot at Armagh Show.
James kept up to date with the days judging results long distance style as he is currently in Las Vegas. "We are thrilled to have continued our show success at Antrim. This is one of our best years to date, and it is rewarding to get four championships with four different beasts."

JALEX HERD ON WINNING FORM AT CASTLEWELLAN SHOW 2010
James Alexander’s commercial show team continued its winning streak at Castlewellan Show at the weekend where there was a terrific entry forward in all classes. This is the third championship in a row for the Toomebridge based Jalex herd, following on from top placings at Armagh and Omagh shows.
The Champion exhibit was the flashy “Moulin Rouge” a homebred August ‘09 daughter of the successful British Blue stock bull “Ross Willie”. A half share has been sold in this heifer following on from her show debut at the weekend.
The success story didn’t end there with Jalex also securing the reserve championship with “Chunky”, who was also sired by Ross Willie.
“We are delighted with how this Blue bull is breeding since we snapped him up following on from Tully in 2006. He also bred the Champion at Antrim Show last year, as well as siring many other top grading commercials in our herd.” .

BLACK BEAUTY 1 WINS CLASS IN SMITHFIELD
Black Beauty 1 exhibited by Harry Emslie who purchased her from us after she was placed Champion Commercial at Clogher Show in August, came 1st in her class, at the recent AGRI-LIVE SMITHFIELD event at Stoneleigh park.
This was the first time an animal bred from our farm had been shown at this event and we wish to congratulate and thank Harry and Lynwen for their success with Black Beauty and for doing such a bonnie job feeding her and bringing her out. We will see more of Black Beauty in the incoming summer show season and we hope she carries on her winning ways.
Black Beauty 1 is twin sister to Black Beauty 2 that was recently placed Champion Angus at Allams, pity all the cows on the herd wouldn't breed like their mother.
